The closed testing requirement is a one-time gate. You need twelve testers for a single 14-day window, and after that you apply for production access. A subscription model would charge you again and again for a requirement you only need to satisfy once. The one-time payment per app means you pay for the window you use, not for access you do not need.
That also means there is nothing to cancel, no renewal to remember, and no email from a billing department that says "we noticed you are not using your plan". If your app launches on time, you never pay again. If you have a second app, you pay for the second app — the same price, no bundle, no lock-in.
Google's requirement is fourteen continuous days of opted-in testers. That number is fixed: shorter testing does not count, and testers who opt in late only have their own fourteen days from the point they joined. The clock is not a calendar period you can compress.
The 14 days are padded with two extra buffer days free, so a late opt-in, a slow review, or a question you forgot to answer never cuts into the requirement itself. The testing window is the floor, not the ceiling: most campaigns run slightly longer because of the review, and the buffer keeps that from feeling like a failure.
The 14-day window is also why assignment speed matters. Every day the roster is incomplete is a day you are not counting toward the window. A standing roster that fills within hours turns the requirement into a 14-day sprint rather than a recruitment campaign with an unknown start date.
Every plan is a one-time payment for a single app. There is no subscription, no renewal reminder, and no account you have to cancel later. The payment covers the 14-day testing window, the roster assignment, the written feedback report, and the production access report you paste into Google’s questionnaire.
Starter is the plan that matches Google’s requirement exactly: 12 testers, 14 days, and the written report at the end. It is priced for developers who want to finish the closed test without paying for anything they do not need.
Premium adds buffer: 15 testers so a single churn does not drop you below the threshold, priority matching so the window starts sooner, and daily screenshots on top of the written report. The extra tester and the proof are what most teams find useful when Google asks for evidence.
Enterprise is the fastest lane: 20 testers, a dedicated pod, the deepest screenshot set, and deployment and release help included. It is aimed at studios and agencies that are shipping multiple apps and do not want to manage the campaign themselves.
A written report is useful to the team that built the app. A reviewer who has never seen the app before benefits from something they can inspect in seconds: a screenshot of the installed app, on a real device, on the day the test ran. Premium and Enterprise plans include daily screenshots for exactly that reason.
The screenshot is not evidence that the app works well; it is evidence that the testing happened, which is what Google asks for. A daily record of real devices turns the closed test from a count into a demonstration, and it is the shortest way to answer the question "how do you know real testers used this?".
Every paid plan carries a production access guarantee. If Google refuses production access after the full 14-day testing window is complete and your plan’s tester count is met, you can choose a full refund or 14 additional days of free testing.
The refund needs Google’s own rejection email as evidence, because the guarantee has to rest on something real rather than on a claim. That is the reason the written report is produced as a standard deliverable rather than an optional add-on: the testing record is the evidence, and the refund policy expects it.
Premium gives you the deepest buffer, and every plan is refunded in full if we miss the guarantee.
